AGMA Statement on the Passing of AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka

Published August 5, 2021   |  By Musical Artists  |  Post in All Areas

The news of the unexpected passing of AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka has stunned and saddened everyone at the American Guild of Musical Artists. As the leader of the AFL-CIO, Trumka was the nation’s clearest voice on the critical need to ensure that all workers have power and dignity in their workplaces. At the center of his mission, was his heart and compassion. President Trumka was always kind to, and supportive of, AGMA and its members--most notably when AGMA received its own AFL-CIO charter recently. His advocacy and zeal for real, positive change in our world will be missed, and not forgotten. We already feel the void left in his absence. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and colleagues during this deeply sad, sh... Read More -->

Petition to Pass the PRO Act: Add Your Name

Published July 26, 2021   |  By Musical Artists  |  Post in All Areas

AGMA has joined the AFL-CIO and its affiliates on this petition. We encourage our members to add their names in support of the PRO Act! Our outdated labor laws have been chipped away and weakened by anti-worker legislators. Every day, we hear about corporations openly union-busting and retaliating against working people without consequence. In short, the PRO Act is the most important piece of worker empowerment legislation since the Great Depression. The PRO Act doesn’t stop anyone from doing freelance work. It protects freelancers’ rights to organize and collectively bargain if they choose to. An FAQ page that addresses all of this information and more is on our website.  Strong unions mean higher wages, safer workin... Read More -->
