Houston Grand Opera announces auditions for
Il Trovatore
Corps Dancers
Monday, June 24, 2024 from 6-10pm CT
Houston Grand Opera is seeking five dancers (male and female) plus one cover for its new production of Il Trovatore. Choreographer Amy Hall Garner is looking for dancers with a strong technical foundation who can move in a contemporary way with possible elements of hip hop. There will be a warmup room available an hour before the audition. There will not be a group warmup or class given. Dancers should wear something you can move in, with jazz shoes or dance sneakers (no ballet shoes or heels).
The production period is September 16 – November 3, 2024. Performances are as follows: October 18 (7:00pm), 20 (2pm), 26 (7:30pm), 29 (7:30pm) and November 3 (2pm), 2024. Rehearsals primarily take place in the evenings and on weekends. A full rehearsal and performance calendar will be shared prior to contracting. Dancers must be available for all onstage rehearsals and performances. Conflicts may be considered for staging rehearsals.
Compensation is as follows:
- $27.79 per hour for rehearsal
- $274.80 per performance for public performances
Houston Grand Opera’s production of Il Trovatore will be directed by Stephen Wadsworth, choreographed by Amy Hall Garner and conducted by Artistic and Music Director Patrick Summers. More information about the production can be found at https://www.houstongrandopera.org.
