AGMA Releases Updated Guidance on Testing/Masking for Dancers

Today, the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA) released an Updated Guidance on Masking/Testing for AGMA Dancers. This Updated Guidance is directed to AGMA dancers, dance companies, and opera company dancers when they are rehearsing separately. The purpose of this Guidance is to allow vaccinated dancers, in some circumstances, to remove masks during rehearsals if the company implements a robust COVID-19 testing program. As always, any proposed changes to existing safety protocols at AGMA signatory companies must be bargained with your AGMA staff representative prior to implementation. The AGMA Dancers Caucus will host "A Biopsychosocial Look at Returning to the Studio" on Monday, November 1 at 8:00 p.m. ET. The presentation will be led by William Zinser, MS, ATC, CSCS, Athletic Trainer at NYU Langone’s Harkness Center for Dance Injuries.  This presentation/workshop is beneficial in relation to returning from pandemic shutdowns as well as returning from injury, pregnancy, or any other reason for returning to the studio. Ballet Idaho Dancers Take Steps to Unionize

With an overwhelming majority of support, the Dancers of Ballet Idaho have signed cards to form a union and join the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA). “With union approval rates higher than they’ve been in decades, workers are recognizing the great protections and benefits that come with being a part of a labor union. We are thrilled to support the Dancers of Ballet Idaho as they begin this journey, and we look forward to a collaborative and fruitful working relationship with the management of the Company,” said Griff Braun, Director of Organizing and Outreach at AGMA.
