AGMA Ratifies First Contract with Saint Louis Ballet

The FIRST collective bargaining agreement between AGMA and ​Saint Louis Ballet was approved by AGMA leadership on August 12, 2024, after being ratified by the shop.

Thank you to the negotiating committee and congratulations on this FIRST, 3-year agreement!

CONTRACT HIGHLIGHTS:

ALL DANCERS COVERED:

  • 21 full-time Company dancers​
  • Regular part-time dancers​
  • Supplemental dancers​
  • SLB II dancers covered as regular part-time dancers​
    • $50 per month bonus for SLB II dancers to help with AGMA Initiation Fees​

COMPENSATION AND OTHER BENEFITS:

  • Annual increases of $20-25 per week in each year.  ​
  • Gender pay equity between dancers​ (previously, male dancers made more than others!)
  • $500 Choreography Fee​
  • Rehearsal Director fee​
  • Extraordinary Risk fee​
  • Class is mandatory and paid​
  • 5-minute breaks every hour​
  • Overtime for rehearsals that start early or end late​
  • Rehearsal director required for every rehearsal​
  • Probation period eliminated ​
  • 1 year notice of non-reengagement for dancers with 8 or more years of seniority​
  • Publicity photos are provided to the Dancers​
  • Recordings of performances are available for personal use

DEI AND DANCER PROTECTIONS:

  • Anti-harassment and discrimination language, with a commitment to continue this discussion
  • Anti-discrimination policies are distributed
  • Audition notices widely distributed​
  • Body Autonomy with a right to opt out of choreography ​
  • Discussion of an Intimacy Director for intimate scenes ​
  • Weapon and Fight Safety​
  • Minimum three people in a rehearsal​
